Considering I’m a huge horror fan, I was completely unaware of Texas Chainsaw 3D even being in production, and I’m not sure if the news is something to be celebrated or not. Allegedly picking up where the 1974 original film left off, it is now the seventh installment in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise – though it is interesting to note that they have dropped the ‘massacre’ from the title, good sign or bad sign?! Apparantly there will be cameo appearances from Gunnar Hansen (the original Leatherface) and Marilyn Burns (Sally Hardesty) which will hopefully add a little something extra for the horror fanatics out there. Alexandra Daddario (looking a little ‘goth-ed’ out) is in the lead role (who was actually in the film Bereavement which I’ve reviewed recently) is relatively new to the industry and so I’m curious to see how she fairs with this big budget production, as well as Tania Raymonde (who I personally remember from the US TV series Lost). To be honest, judging from the trailer, the film does appear to be yet another version of exactly the same story – but hey, it does exactly what it says on the tin, so I can’t really complain! Plenty of girls screaming and chainsaw action to be had here I’m sure, which is precisely the story that horror fans know and love. It is part of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise after all, I would expect nothing less! The release date is 4th January 2013 (UK) for this one, so there is plenty of time in which to brace ourselves (whether it be because it’s so terrible or because it’s so awesome, nobody knows).
