I have been waiting a long time to say this, Meursault are back and they have never sounded more profound and brilliant. I cant fully express how much I love this band, they are everything that music should be; lyrically perfect with superbly put together songs that intertwine effortlessly to make an album, strong heartfelt vocals, and original and unique composing that only comes of age with experience.

If you dont know who Meursault are I will explain before I bombard you with more appreciation of them. Formed in Edinburgh Scotland back in 2007 singer songwriter Neil Pennycook took it upon himself to start a Scottish musical revolution gathering his closet friends; Fraser Calder,Chris Bryant, Calum MacLeod, Phillip Quirie,Pete Harvey, and Gavin Tarling he created a truly incomparable sound, mixing both his love of explorative dance music sounds and acoustic indie delicateness.

The following year in 2008 Meursault were signed to Song By Toad records where they produced their first album “Pissing on Bonfires/Kissing with Tongues” which contained many quality tracks including “Oh Neighbourhood” and “The Dirt And The Roots”. Also included on this album was a track called “A Small Stretch Of Land” which guest vocals Scott Hutchinson of Frightened Rabbit another fantastic band from Scotland.

After two years of unrelenting touring the band came to terms with recording a new record and in 2010 ” All Creatures Shall Be Merry” arrived with fantastic acclaim all over the UK. Again they toured and toured and even appeared on the BBC Introducing Stage at the 40th Anniversary Glastonbury Festival a fitting triumph for a band still growing and gathering steam.

Now in 2012 two years after their last album, Meursault are set to release another calling this one “Something for the Weakend” keeping the trend of twisting sayings as album titles. This track “Flitting” is the first single off the album and it showcases triumphantly what Meursault is all about, just sit back, relax, and enjoy every second.

Be sure to keep an eye on the record shelves for this one it will be appearing there very soon. If you cant wait though, you can order yourself a copy right here.

Be sure to check out their back catalogue and eveything from tours to Tshirts on their website.

Much love and enjoy X
