Deaf Havana - Meet Me Halfway, At Least

Deaf Havana are a band I’ve always liked and probably will always like – this, their second album (2009), is the epitome of the music and scene they so truly represent. Signed by alternative label Wolf At Your Door Records (also representing the likes of Mallory Knox and Lower Then Atlantis), they’ve been strong since 2007 (signed in 2008) and have released three albums – the latest of which reached number one in the UK Rock Charts in 2011, when it was released.

Twanging guitar, jumpy melodies and heavy beats kicking in just when you want to underlie the heavy tone of the vocals – strong when singing and passionate in screaming this, this fits perfectly. The vocals are really what make this music – the singer James Veck-Gilodi nails every note and there’s definitely no auto-tune here.

Worth a listen if you like Dead Swans or We Are The Ocean.
