This Music Festival was born in 2008 in Vigo (Spain) and its dates are always the same: the end of November coinciding with “The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women”. As you probably figured out, the main protagonists are female artists. Musicians like Laura Gibson, Emmy the Great, Nina Kinert , Sarah Jaffe or Sharon Van Etten, among many others, have participated in its previous editions. After four years and a very warm welcome, the festival has added new dates in Orense and Madrid.
The aim of the festival is to let people discover several talented female artists that are well-known in their home-countries but maybe not so much in Spain and, of course, demand the power of the current female generation in such an special day as this one.
The fifth edition will take place in Madrid November 20th (Teatro Lara), Orense November 22nd (Teatro Principal) and Vigo November 24th (Teatro García Barbón) and will count with the presence of Lisa Hannigan (Ireland), Little Scream ( North-America) and Holly Miranda (North America). These three songwriters, that move between the pop and folk genres, will pay tribute to one of the greatest jazz voices of our time: Nina Simone. Apart from covering some tunes of this afro-american singer, there will be also time to listen to their own compositions.
Illusion, passion and a great taste in music are the key of success of this Festival that has grown slowly but surely in the current Spanish Festivals panorama. If you have chance to come, do not miss this event, because for less than 22 € you will be able to listen to some great voices and have an unforgettable evening full of music, emotion and fun.
