Say Something is popping up all over the place. And for good reason. A Great Big World has created an absolutely heart-wrenching track, easily living up to any modern tear-jerker.
It was first heard on television during Season 11 of So You Think You Can Dance when choreographer Mandy Moore chose to play it to one of her numbers. Little did band members Ian Axel and Chad Vaccarino know then but Christina Aguilera was watching and listening. Shortly thereafter the former NYU classmates were more than willing, after the shock wore off, to agree to re-recording the song into the currently radio-spun duet that we hear today.
The topic of relationships may be a favorite of song-writers everywhere but Axel and Vaccarino write in a way that supersedes romance to reach every connection we can have with others. For once, words actually COULD be enough- if only someone would say them.
