So, it’s that time again…remake time! Sam Raimi’s classic horror movie from 1981, Evil Dead, looks like it has gotten a complete makeover to meet the modern viewers expectations of a ‘horror’ movie – that means more action, more blood, more gore, more everything! I personally think that the trailer looks promising, despite the fact that remaking such a well-known film is destined for failure. But I’m hopeful and always eager to be pleasantly surprised (as pleasantly surprised as one can be about excessive violence!). Set for release on 12th April 2013 (in the UK), there’s still a heck of a wait, but as the Texas Chainsaw 3D is coming up sooner, we get to wet our appetites as it were. It appears that 2013 is already off to a good start horror-wise! Director of this rebooted Evil Dead, Fede Alvarez (from Uruguay), has not directed a feature length movie before, so it shall be an interesting ‘sink or swim’ kind of moment. I wish him all the best of luck and very much look forward to seeing it! Apparantly, this new film will be about five new kids going to the cabin and Fede Alvarez was actually hand picked up Sam Raimi himself (who also said that the movie was ‘so bloody it will make your head spin’). Even Bruce Campbell (the legend from the original) had a ton of good things to say about the remake, describing it as ‘absolutely fabulous’. I don’t know about you, but I shall definitely be paying this one a visit at the cinema!
