The boys from Boston are back, this time with a new single and an aggressive sound. VVS1 is an original dubstep/hip-hop collective consisting of emcees Soupa and Dean Swift, singer Renzo, and Producer/DJ Mike Irish. We have been lucky enough to feature some of their individual works here on Dead Curious, but this is the first chance we’ve had to listen to their collaborative efforts. The verdict? The sky is the limit for these guys.
This underground supergroup is setting the tone for the fusion of dubstep and hiphop through a balance of crisp orchestration, furious (and technical) lyrical delivery, and filthy drops that have earned them a wide audience and broad appeal. They released their first single, “Pearl Harbor”, back in January. It accrued over 25,000 plays on SoundCloud, and showed the strong potential of their sound. They have continued to hone their craft over the past few months, and signed with Fuzion Muzik Records on the back of their success, in late June.
