Giving the middle finger to recent Internet piracy bills is Gramatik’s Digital Freedom, which he’s very kindly released for – you’ve guessed it – free. Those who know the Slovenian for his chilled hiphop beats might raise their eyebrows at his sudden foray into dubstep, but above all it’s a display of his versatility and exceptionally slick production.
‘Talkbox Intended’ is a fluid blend of funk and dubstep, just one of the unashamedly catchy tracks of the release. Think Zapp and Roger with a bit of wobble. Gramatik litters his tracks with shards of rap vocals and hacks away at lengthy basslines to create a distinct flavour.
