Davy Jones was one of the fantastic foursome that was “The Monkeys”, one of the most iconic bands of the 60s and 70s. The flamboyant frontman sadly died of a heart attack earlier today at only 66 years of age. Always smiling and living life to its fullest and talk of a Monkeys reunion later this year, his life was a very busy one. Although his career choice was someone uncertain in early life as he tried his hand at a variety of occupations. Most notably at being a Jockey and an Actor, even appearing in a few select episodes Coronation Street. He did however eventually settle on being a music star, which I am so pleased he did. He truly was one of the greats and will be missed by all.

The below track holds particular significance to me as it was the first song that I ever loved and learnt all the words to. My Dad had it on cassette and it was played in our blue volvo 240 prity much on repeat for about three years, from the age of four to seven I was obsessed. Thank you Davy Jones for being so brilliant and bringing alot of joy and pleasure to so many.

Here is The Monkeys with “The Monkeys” RIP Davy Jones.
