This is exactly what I’ve been waiting for. Like some sort of miraculous alchemist, Das Heat has transformed Abel Tesfaye’s silky-smooth, sultry vocals into a sexy, fired-up jam that is destined for the dancefloor.
Since the release of House of Balloons I’ve listened to countless remixes of The Weeknd, and none of the faster tracks have really appealed to me. The originals work so well as delicate, ethereal tunes that a strong beat seemed to undermine them. Das Heat chops up Tesfaye’s vocals, mixes in some bouncy bass and sautés it all with a fun little beat, whilst retaining the songs original melody.
This remix is seriously scorching, injecting new life into what was undeniably one of the greatest songs of 2011.
