Hush Puppies…Then, and Now in Neal Street

Hush Puppies have taken over the Wolverine Company store on Neal Street for a couple of weeks. It is a must visit, on a street filled with shoe shops it is a great shopping destination. To celebrate they dropped the prices to what they were back in 1958 when the company launched. Two of their most popular styles were up for grabs for £5 on opening day, the shop staff said there were queue’s down the road.

The brand has a great history and with film stars wearing the brand throughout history. They have the Rock Royalty hall of fame: Elvis Presley’s actual blue suede shoes were commissioned from Hush Puppies by the Lansky brother’s, a pair of Hush Puppies are believed to have saved Keith Richards from being electrocuted on stage, and Rod Stewart wears them on tours, they are exclusively made for him in yellow, lilac, pink and leopard print.

Upon walking in to the store I was blown away by the finish, and how much stock it had without looking at all cluttered as so my shoe shops can. It was a wonderful shopping experience being offered, with WAH Nails in-store for the week to decorate our hands in all things hound.

There was such a great atmosphere in store with Prosecco and canapés for all, while we browsed the collection and mingled with the great PR team from Hush Puppies. The shop staff were very polite getting sizes to try and talking about the exciting week they had had with the new store. There was even an almost life sized Basset Hound to keep an eye on the proceedings, it was quit a task to stop people from stroking said hound.

The current Spring Summer 2014 range is absolutely fantastic, with an exclusive collection just for London, not sold anywhere else in the world. It’s a fantastic colourful range with three choice in each style, loafers in a lovely oriental floral in 3 colours, a functional African inspired sandal and a more feminine option with a delicate cross over strap over the foot.

There was a nice sneak peak at the A/W 14 collections for us and it is looking great. Victorian inspired boots in wine red will be the perfect Autumn style update, new take on chelsea boots and more launching later in August. But get down there soon, as the store is only Hush Puppies’ until the 15th of June.
