The sun is shining and London is in the holiday mode, sorry to all the bosses reading this. It is a bit early, but we wanted to start the celebration so rushed out Friday afternoon to Shoreditch and started at the ultimate sun soaking spot at the Queen of Hoxton.
When you walk in and the bar is deserted fear not, for the fun is upstairs… Sure it may be many flights up, but it’s well worth the work out. This is a little sanctuary in London, a big open plan roof terrace with picnic benches, swing seats in a circle that resembles a bird cage and a blasting BBQ to feed the hungry. Here the day passes as the sun works its way across the sky, with a few refreshing Cuba Libre’s to quench our thirst. Ask for a Rum and Coke, squeeze in some fresh lime wedges, and you could almost think yourself on the beach in a cool breeze!
Today, 20 May, BACARDI rum is releasing their bat installation piece around the world, in celebration of Cuban Independence Day. Here, in London as dusk falls you can see and participate in it at Shoreditch Grind coffee and cocktail bar.
Hirsch and Mann designed this interactive LED installation, as dusk creeps in and the sun dissipates the bats ‘come out’, their presents becomes more powerful as it gets darker. Each participating audience member will be given a complimentary Cuba Libre to enjoy; after all it is the drink born from the revolution in rum making. It was Don Facundo Barcardi Masso was developed the world’s first smooth light-bodied rum.
I for one will be dropping in to continue the wonderful summer vibes. Enjoy it responsibly and get yet another free Libre winging it’s way to whomever you nominate between 6-10pm via the Uber app.
Keep an eye out for the next Voice of Summer post as London is bustling, and yet another Bank Holiday is fast approaching….
