Everything Everything’s new single “Cough Cough”, the first from their eagerly awaited second album, is one beast of a quirky tune! Being the nice, polite lads E.E. are, the tracks starts “Yeah… so… um… wait a second” turning a shy guy’s stumbles into a catchy mantra. The rest of the track is spearheaded by shed loads of drums, I adore the pre-chorus lyrics which are accompanied by lightning fast synth, This crashes into a euphoric chorus about compromise to make a living, the oil represents money in the video. The pounding drums end the track with underlays of coughs, just as the same with the beginning of the track.
I just cant get enough of this track, January 14th has now been confirmed in my calendar as new E.E. day, cant wait!
