The Monkey Day Festival takes place on August 24th and 25th in Gijón (Asturias), Spain, and this year celebrates its second edition. Slowly but surely, this indie appointment will turn into a great classic in the spanish festival scene.
The success obtained in the last edition did not happen quite by chance. The location, the good organisation and, specially, a very nice line-up with Delorean or Mogwai as principal bands has made that Monkey Day 2012 arrives as a required appointment for all the contemporary music lovers.
Bands like Fanfarlo, Standstill, Lori Meyers, Love of Lesbian or Supersubmarina, between others, are taking over from the last year’s ones and they are playing in two important stages situated in one of the most important points for the asturian culture: Plaza de la Laboral and Sala Acapulco in Gijón.
Apart from the music, with the participation of 9 bands and 2 DJ’s sets, it will be space for the humor, with a paralallel line-up dedicated to the stand-up comedy and a lovely street-market.
The price is really affordable because the event organisation has launched 500 special season tickets for only 29 €. Once these special price tickets are sold out, the normal season-one will cost 35/40 €, depending if you buy it in advance or the same day of the beginning of the festival. Besides you can also buy tickets for an only day for 22/25 €.
With all these ingredients we can turn music into a great party and I am sure that Monkey Day 2012 will do it once again.
