Animal Collective are one of the most polarizing acts in recent years. Adored by their fans and scorned as just cacophony by their detractors, the electronic-psychedelic outfit produced one of 2009’s most critically acclaimed albums, Merriweather Post Pavilion, in homage to the Maryland music venue. Their sound can best be described as a natural evolution of the later works of Pink Floyd and Kraftwerk, with deep roots in Krautrock and abstract art rock.
Originally from Baltimore, the group now splits their time between New York City and Lisbon, Portugal.
