Genre: alternative
Basically, this week the CDs I got out from the music library were a random selection, picked out for their artwork because I was in a slight rush and couldn’t be arsed hanging around.
Panda Bear, I have found from the internet, was formed by Noah Lennox, also a member of Animal Collective. Now, I have mentioned previously I’m not a huge fan of Animal Collective, and much as I appreciate their forward-pushing sound, I don’t really “get” it. I feel that my feelings for this album are the same – the concepts are interesting, individual and unique but I don’t technically like the music.
This record was released in 2007, 8 years after Panda Bear’s debut. It’s a mixture of melodics, interestingly sampled and looped sounds laying over the whispy lyrics, with slight and subtle beats underlying.
I’m not sure I understand the great reviews it’s had – any opinions on this?
