Genre: experimental pop

Ok, so a friend recommended this musician to me, and I’m not gonna lie, I was a bit hard-pressed to find him on the internet! However, Adam Russell is definitely worth a listen (go to the link above for some downloads/free listens with no adverts). Adam Russell hails from Kent and is a solo musician – signed on a small, independent label called Unlabel (also based in Kent).

The first song I heard (Piety – try youtube) is explosive and angry and passionate and encapsulates the energy this musician obviously has. The new album, to be released in February (and can be heard on the link above), is a strange one. I think the most unusual aspect of it is the vocal aspects – there’s wailing and whispering and strange harmonies that somehow seem to tie together quite well. The songs are short and sweet and just work enough. There’s no overuse of vocals or the same ideas, and every song links but is unique.

Worth the listen, check him out.
