Part-human part-robot Redinho takes electro funk to a whole new level with “Stay Together”, making you wish you’d asked Santa for a vocoder this Christmas. The tracks mellow, dubby beat is interspersed with alluring vocal snippets – its basically one huge build culminating in a triumphant synth-heavy finale.
One of many glittering talents to emerge on Glaswegian label Numbers, Tom Calvert could almost be a more experimental, edgier Chromeo. Alongside pioneers of electronic music like Deadboy, Jamie xx and Rustie, Redinho is set to do great things in 2012. It’s during his live sets, however, that his musical artistry really becomes apparent – he doesn’t hesitate to get creative with his talkbox.
