You just have to go to Of a Kind’s website. It IS a fashion website and it IS selling fashion apparel, but DO NOT get it wrong. Their products and stories are unique. I wrote “their” because behind this website are Claire Mazur and Erica Cerulo. Promoting new and rising fashion designers in such a romantic way… Well, you’ll see while enjoying the special product selection they did for A Girl in Hong Kong!
So the first question I ask is.. Tell me something they like and something they do not like about the fashion industry:
Of a Kind: We like how it’s easier and easier for talented people to start designing and find means of production—we hope to be able to provide some support to help bring attention to new designers we love. We don’t like the overemphasis on luxury and status. For us, it should be more about story and craftsmanship than a label.

Of a Kind:Claire has been really liking Maria Cornejo—she’s been wanting to wear flowy things. I [Erica ndr] just bought a few pieces from Mink Pink, including a nearly sheer black button-down maxi dress that I suspect I’ll be wearing multiple days a week for the next couple of months.

What inspires them in terms of movies and art, photography…
Of a Kind:Friends have been making mixes for us that we play at the office. The song “Will You Be There” by Michael Jackson (which features prominently in the movie Free Willy) has been really speaking to us lately.

Can you tell us what your plan for the future are/what you are currently working on?
Of a Kind:We are planning to revisit some designers who we’ve worked with in the past for the holiday season. So be on the lookout for new takes on some of our very first sell-outs!
